Personality/Background: Caloghan was born and raised in a cave alongside his three brothers, Gelar, Maka and Orad in the Mawbanna region of Tasmania. Born in a time where thylacines were becoming rarer thanks to a number of reasons including hunting, his parents were adamant about not going anywhere near human settlements. Unfortunately, his brother Maka was quite inquisitive about the forbidden and Caloghan always seemed to find himself following his younger brother in an attempt to keep him safe. Even after leaving the densite, Caloghan trailed his brother Maka for fear of something happening to him... especially when he discovered that humans had been hunting thylacines for so long that there were practically none left. Caloghan's first proper brush with humans occurred when he went searching for his brother who he knew was out looking for trouble on a nearby farm. The only issue was, these humans were the Rebels and it was because of them sighting him that they had discovered where and when in time they were.
Both the Rebels and Caloghan spent the next few days watching each other, trying to understand the lives of the other(s). Caloghan would always be trying to find out what was so fascinating to his brother about humans while also trying to figure out why the Rebels were dressed and acted differently to other humans of his time as well as why most of them could change into animals that he had never seen before. The Rebels, having come from a time where thylacines were considered extinct, were just fascinated by the sighting of a real life thylacine and were merely trying to gain enough information as they could from their curious companion before having to leave. Unfortunately, any attempts from the Rebels to befriend Caloghan always resulted in the young thylacine's quick and crafty escape from what he believed was danger.
Finally, the day came where Caloghan's brother got himself into trouble that he couldn't get out of. After weeks of wondering where his brother always seemed to go missing, Caloghan followed Maka to a farm just beyond their forest covered territory, knowing full well that he himself was being followed by one of the Rebels members. Unfortunately, he was too late to reach the edge of the forest and the sound of a gun shot echoed through the night. If it hadn't had been for Choby coming up behind him and grabbing him, even going as far as to silence him, Caloghan would be considered the last wild thylacine to have been shot dead. It was only after that day that Caloghan allowed himself to be cared for by the Rebels. To be honest, he completely shut down after the death of his brother, the fact that he was never able to say good bye consuming him to the point where, even in the present, he would wish that it was he who had died. And because of his broken state of mind, the Rebels found it in his best interest to take him with them back to the future. It was also due to his unresponsive nature that Caloghan gained the nickname 'Carlos', given to him by his saviour, Choby. Caloghan would later accept this new name as a nickname but would always insist on being called by his real name for more formal settings.
Adjusting to life in a world where people believed your species was extinct was quite hard for Caloghan. In an attempt to fit into the world of 2008, he tried a number of different animal morphs, all of which carried his natural thylacine patterns. But even though he has access to all of these morphs, he has never felt right in them. And needing to get a human form in order to survive almost sent him into another great fit of depression, especially when it was discovered that he actually has a fear of humans thanks to what happened to his brother as well as his parents' teachings. Even the day he found the image of the last wild thylacine was another day of fear for the displaced boy that the Rebels found they had to help him through.
For quite a while, Caloghan believed himself to be the only thylacine left on the planet... until one fateful night that brought his leaders' lives together with their mates'. It was at Choby's and Raimundo's twin wedding reception that Caloghan found himself surrounded by members of the Rebels Ancient Gang and forced by Ronan, Ty, Alviss, Elliot and Felix to enjoy the night not hiding underneath one of the tables. This led him to meeting with Elliot's adopted sister, Camira who, despite everything, managed to get the shy young man to turn into his human form and dance with her (not that he actually knew how to dance). From then on, something stirred within Caloghan. The others even noticed that he seemed to have found something to live for. Before they knew it, Camira and Caloghan had gotten together.
After his marriage to Camira, Caloghan found a love for teaching the younger generations. This stemmed from his eagerness to learn (despite his rough start in the future/present) and he always seemed to make his lessons interesting. So it was that he ended up becoming a successful teacher in the local high school and eventually he was chosen to aid Saran in her School for Gifted Young Ones. Two years after his marriage, he and Camira welcomed three thylacine pups into the world, two sons - Tiggs and Topeka - and one daughter - Tathra. Five years later, the family was surprised with Camira's second pregnancy and eventual birth of three more thylacine pups - son Doren and daughters Dashka and Dorla. Caloghan had no qualms telling his children the truth about how he came to be apart of the Rebels and that their uncle really was the last wild thylacine to have been killed in the year 1930. He believed that it helped to shape who his children grew up to be. But it was always his wish that, when he died, he would be reunited with the ancient land from whence he had come from - and the only way to achieve that, his children knew, was to cremate him and spread his ashes over his home area of the Mawbanna region of Tasmania.
