Personality/Background: Dakarai is quite curious, and always has been since he was a young cub. Born as a pure Atlas Bear on the Isle of Dragons, Dakarai spent his first year with his parents, Shahina and Jabari, and twin sister, Taraji, without much care at all. Upon reaching his first birthday, as was custom of the family, both he and his sister were taken to get their human morphs, effectively aging the both of them to four year old humans. It wasn't until after he was old enough to attend school that his more nurturing nature was discovered, specifically after he befriended the terminally ill wyvern morpher, Axel Longhorn.
Dakarai was always making sure that Axel was taking care of himself, even when he tried not to be overbearing on the matter. Thankfully, Axel didn't seem to mind it. And yet, it was Dakarai who ended up introducing Axel to Cara Stone and Lexi Verghese, a spinosaurus morpher and winged husky morpher who were both as eager to befriend the wyvern as he had been. The four of them even joined the school's World Discovery Program which had interested students entering the world beyond the Isle of Dragons to complete their schooling. The teachers even made sure to keep the four friends together in their travels, even going ahead and placing Runo Lorhart, a winged lion morpher, into their travel group after witnessing Runo aid Axel in one of his more severe health attacks, something which Dakarai became very thankful for after he found out about both situations. After all, the atlas bear had managed to form a crush on the winged lioness. The crush never eventuated into anything more, however, as Dakarai quickly realised that Runo would never see him more than a friend due to her own, yet undiscovered, sexuality.
Unfortunately for Dakarai, being in the school's World Discovery Program also meant moving in with a willing Carer at their home for three years. That meant that a long distance relationship with his then boyfriend, Nino Rodgers, an Auroch morpher who was also part of the school program, would probably not work out. That didn't mean that Dakarai wasn't going to give it a try, though. But when Nino found out that Dakarai would be moving to Australia for the school program and he to Scotland, he ended the relationship after only two months of being together. It took Axel, Cara, Lexi and Runo months to get Dakarai to feel like he could be happy again. And during that time, Julien Guerra had come to collect the five friends and take them back to his home on Mythos Island.
As per requirements, Dakarai was enrolled at Cylus Beach High School for the next three years alongside his friends. For the entire first year of the program, Dakarai and his friends made sure to explore all Argetgarm had to offer. Dakarai also found himself being tagged along by Axel to ask Julien to take them on outings to mainland Australia, although those were saved for the school holidays. But eventually the atlas bear's curiosity got the better of him. When they were all seventeen, Dakarai suggested they find out where Mr Julien and Ms Saran (as they called their carer and his wife) often disappeared to, quickly finding themselves hiding behind Kubikuro Haythen's house as they witnessed an all in Rebels meeting. And they would have remained hidden had it not been for poor Axel giving them away with one of his many coughing fits.
Surprisingly, the Rebels were quiet friendly with them, answering any questions the group had about what was going on but at the same time, making sure that their answers were basic and didn't give too much away. But with Axel having forgotten to take his medications with him before leaving the house, Julien had to cut short their question time and take the group of five back to his house. Even so, Runo and Lexi were both curious about what they had seen and managed to convince the other three that it could be a good learning experience for them to join the Rebels. About a week later, the five friends confronted Julien and Saran about joining the Rebels. They, in turn, took them to consult with the Rebels leaders and sub leaders, who, after witnessing their morphs and learning about their backgrounds a little, made sure that their plan wasn't some short term idea before placing them into the Rebels Ancients.
The only issue was that Axel was worried about what their parents would think if they were able to join. As a response, Julien invited their parents to stay for a week in Argetgarm where they learned of what their children got up to and, more importantly, that they wanted to join a rather harmless gang of creatures that could morph. Unfortunately for Dakarai, and while his sister was supportive of her brother, his parents were not. Both Shahina and Jabari were fearful of what humans could do to their son after having heard stories while he was away, and as such demanded he return to the Isle of Dragons. Of course, Dakarai refused to leave Axel or Cara (who was having similar issues with her parents). The end result was that Dakarai was disowned from the family... although he still kept in touch with Taraji without their parents knowing about it. He was surprised, however, when Axel's father, Lorcan, decided that he and Axel were to permanently move to Australia and adopt both Dakari and Cara after they had both been disowned. The Rebels were also happy to have them as permanent members as well, so Dakarai found himself surrounded by supportive figures in such a trying time for him.
Dakarai, as usual, made fast friends with various members of the Rebels gangs. However, none stood out more than fellow Ancients member, Nikolai Sokolov and his brother Boris. In fact, he practically begged the two to teach him how to speak and write Russian, who gladly did so, albeit with the help from their mother. As he spent more time with the Hyaenodon morpher, though, Dakarai started to realise that he was falling in love with Nikolai. And Boris could see it, not to mention the hesitation that the bear was having because of the discovery. In fact it was Boris who encouraged Dakarai to talk to his brother about his feelings. Sadly, Nikolai did not reciprocate the feelings, but was more than happy to still have him as a friend, if Dakarai could look past the hurt. Dakarai took the chance knowing that things could have been much worse between the two.
At the age of twenty one, Dakarai and his new family applied for citizenship in Australia. As soon as it was granted, Axel had the idea to celebrate with a beach party close to home. The Rebels gang were more than happy to help with the preparations. Dakarai even suggested that fellow Ancients members, Chloe and Annie, bring their dance troupe to the party to perform. Of course, he wouldn't say why, exactly, but both Chloe and Annie knew that Dakarai had fallen in love with and was currently seeing another member of their troupe, Urska Grakirra.
Urska was a third generation Slovenian-Australian who Dakarai had helped, randomly, at the local library where he was studying Australian politics. Without even knowing what was happening, Dakarai found himself falling in love with this dancer who kept appearing at the library whenever he was studying. As per usual, Dakarai's curiosity got the better of him and he ended up talking to Urska more and more, learning that she was trying to figure out if she wanted to be a professional dancer, a writer or a teacher. The fact that she thought Dakarai was cute may have also slipped out during these talks. But it was also through these talks that Dakarai convinced Urska to follow her heart, leading her to become a professional dancer.
It wasn't until Dakarai was twenty four, and he and Urska had been together for three years, that the two finally got married. However, the two were quite happy with their jobs and lives at the time and so didn't feel that having children right after getting married was the right decision. That changed when, two years later, Urska found herself pregnant with their first child. Rygalina, their daughter, was born three weeks past her due date and quite large for a newborn. Her mother had no idea how a baby could get so big, Dakarai had his suspicions... which were confirmed when, as soon as she was starting to walk on her own, Rygalina started transforming herself into an atlas bear like her father. The same thing happened three years later when Dakarai and Urska discovered they were having a son. Thankfully Urska decided that she needed to plan for a caesarean and Graman was born at a more acceptable date (though still large for a baby). Dakarai loved his children and gladly helped his wife whenever they decided to turn themselves into atlas bears, he even managed to excel in his job in politics, but the proudest moment of his life would have had to have been when he was able to introduce his family to his sister, who, herself, was ecstatic about where her brother was in life.
